EAST TEXAS PFLAG MINUTES

President Gerry called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. The meeting was at the Tyler Unity Center with 14 present -- Gerry, Troy, Lou Anne, Scott, Hope, Laura, John, Dwight, John, Brenda, Shari, David, Shanna, and Jayden.

Minutes and Treasurer's Report:

John made the motion and Troy seconded that the minutes be approved as distributed. The Treasurer's report indicated a bank balance of $1,077.45.

Old Business:

The new PFLAG Banner was shown to the group. PFLAG thanked TAG for purchasing the banner. Troy acknowledged Lou Anne's work in preparing the frame for the banner.

Information and maps for the Alan Ross Freedom (PRIDE) Parade to be Sunday, September 20th, were distributed to the group. A brief parade planning discussion followed.

Gerry will contact PFLAG National to make sure they have our website as part of the National site network.

New Business:

There was a brief discussion regarding making a contribution to TAG to assist with the TAG Valentine's Dinner/Dance. Lou Anne made the motion and Troy seconded that PFLAG make a $200 contribution to TAG with the vote to be conducted via email to dues-paying members. The results to be reported at the October PFLAG meeting.

Announcements:

Troy announced that the TAG Choral group begins tonight and will be meeting on Monday evenings at the Unity Center. He also indicated that leaders were still needed for several TAG groups.

Lou Anne, Troy, and Gerry will present a GLBT Information Program to the staff at the Family Crisis Center in Lufkin on Friday, September 25th.

John announced that the Dallas Bears will present a reverse drag show at the Illusions Bar located in Dallas at Throckmorton and Maple on Saturday, October 17th. The proceeds will benefit several GLBT charities.

The meeting concluded with a sharing time. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
