Stirring the pot?

Postby Socrates13579 on Fri May 01, 2009 8:03 am

Hmm, how to start? I know Troy and while we haven't seen each other in a long time, I think the world of him. Being as smart as he is, he may eventually figure out who I am. In the meantime, I would like to add the perspective of a straight caucasian with a happy marriage and two boys. For the record, I have never been a Repubilcan nor a Democrat. Worse, maybe in this forum's opinion, is that I would most closely align with Libertarians if that party wasn't so wacko. I am always respectful of other's opinions and will be on this forum and expect the same in return. Just because we may disagree does not mean anyone is evil.

So, why am I posting (and anonymously at that)? I like to seek out other's thoughts and views to better understand the world. The community I live in is reasonably well off and is pretty traditional in its views (and pretty much votes Republican down the line). Thus, I don't fit in here either

So, let me know if you would like a little different perspective on issues. Just don't expect me to agree with you. And, in any debate, I suspect I will lose if Troy weighs in.

Your opinions are most welcome here, Socrates. I don't think there are such thing as losers, when everyone agrees that our goal is the pursuit of truth:

"You have always been told not to doubt. But I tell you doubt! Doubt is the sheet anchor of our intelligence, the waterline of the reasonable being. Doubt is at the very base of knowledge, since it is the essential condition for the pursuit of the truth."
