Cinema Paradiso

This is a place to discuss bringing people or groups together. It could involve "coming out" experiences, or issues like gay/straight, gays and religion or bringing together members within the gay community itself....

"For true reconciliation is a deeply personal matter. It can happen only between persons who assert their own personhood and also aknowledge that of others."

Cinema Paradiso

Here’s a moving video I just wanted to share with you, from a great little film called “Cinema Paradiso.” Here’s the setup: as a young projectionist in a conservative Italian village, our protagonist was made to edit out all the kissing scenes from the great movies, because they were considered “pornographic.” He simply edited these together onto a scrap reel; and forgot about them. Now, as a grown man, he rediscovers the long-lost scrap-reel of censured kisses from his youth. He discovers what was really edited out was the joy of the human experience. There may be a message here for all of us! –

Enjoy –
