True Love Lost

Postby JEANNE on Thu Dec 13, 2007 12:34 pm

A heart that feels,
And the eyes do see,
But a mind that seals,
So a soul can be free.

True to convictions,
Steadfast and firm,
Yet later, suspicion--
Of wisdom not learned.

Reflect...upon true love lost,
Wretched tears of loneliness,
Nothing given--unaware the cost,
But forever felt in this mortal abyss.

:( They say it is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all but I don't know if that is true or not. Love hurts. Very sad but I appreciated and enjoyed it.Thanks,JEANNE

Hi Jeanne,

No, Steve's not the only one to reply. Your favorite pest back on duty. And it's not boo diddley, etc. "Mind that seals/So a soul can be free" simply a fine, chilling image. Sealing hardly allows freeing, only a pretense at it, a test so the later suspicion can say, "gotcha!" A very sad pome, Jeanne, not cynical, but sad. I truly hope the mortal is not an abyss--maybe a maze, perhaps with no exit, as Sartre would have it, but not an abyss. After all the pome does allow that there was an instance of "true love" even if some minds are too stupidly sealed to accept it.

Thanks.
