For Those Who Love To Nog

No, I am not talking of some fun new thing to do when the light's are out. Eggnog season is upon us once again and I felt a reminder should be in order. If you are out at a party make sure to ask your Host/Hostess whether or not the eggnog is store bought or home made. For if it's an old family recipe it might contain raw eggs. Which is a no no for those of us with bad immune sytems. :!: Now I personally love the nog, I crave it through out the year. So I stock up on the canned nog and the powdered nog so I can drink me a eggnog milkshake through out the year. You guy's should try one it is soooo gooood . Besides tasting great it also helps me to gain/maintain my weight which is another plus. If you wanna try one just get your blender out and add vanilla ice cream and a little egg nog and there ya go. :D

Well, now...............we have a chef in the house..........egg nog shake? Never heard of that but it does sound tasty. Do you think Dwight could tell the difference in your shake and the one I make for him every morning? (2 scoops of soy protein, psyllum husks, flax seed, honey and mixed berries.)

Blessings,
Gerry

Gerry, actually that sounds pretty good (mixed berries and honey, mmmmmm)!!
Thanks, I will certainly have to try that. Where can you get the other ingredients? Is that more of a health food store items or can you get them at any grocery market?

Actually I have noticed that there are several restraunts that have added eggnog shakes to their menu this year. Quick suggestion for anyone out there trying to gain weight like me. I add a can of Ensure Plus to the shake to add extra calories.

Anymore healthy drinks anyone?

Holden, you can get the berries in the frozen food section of your grocery store (store brands are great) but I go to Break N Bread, here in Jacksonville, for the other stuff. We are drinking these for cardio health. The recipe : In a blender, 1/3 cup soy protein, 1/3 cup frozen blueberries, 1/3 cup frozen cherries, 1/2 a banana, 1 TBLS. flax seed oil (for the heart) 1/2 TBLS. psyllum husks (fiber) , and 1 cup of ice cold water blend and sweeten with honey to taste. I would adjust your shake by eliminating the psyllum husks and using half and half (or cream) instead of water.

This recipe came from Dr. Mahmet Oz (Oprah's doc). The adjustment is my own common sense. All the dark berries are cardio friendly and the banana is for potassium. You could probably throw a scoop of Blue Bell in there, too.

Blessings, I hope you enjoy,
Gerry
