Transgendered left out of workplace bias bill.......and I quote:

"Democrats on Thursday sent to the full House legislation that would prohibit workplace discrimination against gays, lesbians and bisexuals, dispite bitter complaints from some because transgendered workers would not be protected under the bill. Democratic leaders said they believed including transgendered workers in the bill would cause it to fail in the full House."

In my life, I have discovered that EVERYONE has the need to feel better than someone.........we have come a long way but still have work to do.

Blessings,
Gerry

I know we have to take baby steps, but tell that to a transgendered person. We must let them know we are working for them, too.

Blessings,
Gerry

I was about to reply to the "baby steps" post when I saw Gerry's below it and I'm glad I did.

This is the same sort of thinking that has separated the GLBT community so much already and goodness knows we need to unify rather than separate further.

"Baby steps" was the reasoning/excuse given when we leathermen (as well as drag queens) were discouraged from attending the first marches. It sounds decent in theory and may look okay on paper, but it doesn't quite work. I'm glad to see the uproar. History does indeed repeat itself. Let's try to learn from it.

Anyone recall a little event called STONEWALL? If it wasn't for the trans and drag queens then we would still be meeting in secret and worrying about being seen dancing together. We are all in this together. Baby steps are for babies.
