Adopt-A-Highway Update
As previously announced, Project TAG and East Texas PFLAG have been approved for a stretch on Highway 69 under the Adopt-A-Highway program. The first scheduled cleanup is scheduled for August 15th at 7am, with second shift meeting at 8am if that is too early for you. Our site is located 3.3 miles south of the light at Target on South Broadway. The location is wonderful and convenient. It is just south of the highway entrance to First Babtist Church's South Campus - which provides us with an excellent place to park.
We will meet in that parking lot at 7am. The parking lot can be reached by turning at the fairly large sign on the west side of the highway. The sign has a large rock base and is well lighted, and then drive a little through a wooded area. All materials will be provided needed to help in the cleanup and we will carpool to the location since we are not allowed to park on the highway. A short safety class will be held before we head out (as required by TxDot).
If you haven't driven in the area recently, you may want to make a trial run just to see the Tyler Area Gays sign. It looks great and easy to read.
The success of this program depends on you -- OUR VOLUNTEERS !!! Thank you in advance for your time.
