Adopt A Highway Application approved !!

Postby cody29 on Mon Jul 13, 2009 8:27 pm

The application for Project TAG to participate in the Adopt A Highway Program has been APPROVED !!!! Our stretch is starting at the junction of Hwy 69 and FM 346, going south for 2 miles. A sign with TYLER AREA GAYS should be erected in the next few days. Our first clean-up day is Saturday August 15th in conjunction with East Texas PFLAG starting at 7am. All materials will be provided. A meeting spot and parking will be announced later. A short safety lesson is required to take place before beginning that day.

Mark your calender and plan to join us !!!

GS

(GAY) COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

WHEN: SATURDAY, AUGUST 15

WHERE: HIGHWAY 69 SOUTH
(BETWEEN FM 346 AND 344)

PURPOSE: TRASH PICKUP

After much effort, "Tyler Area Gays" has received a designated Adopt-a-Highway 2-mile stretch of Highway 69 south! The location is wonderful--a much-traveled area. A sign is to be erected soon (if not already) with our name on it!

In exchange for "Tyler Area Gays" receiving this recognition, we have agreed to clean trash four times a year in our 2-mile section of highway (4 miles when counting both sides of the highway). This is not an easy job, but we have taken it on so that our community will not only realize we exist, but will hopefully begin to see us as civic-oriented citizens.

We need your help! Would you be willing to assist in this cleanup?

We plan to gather at 7 a.m. on August 15. If this is too early for you (keep in mind it gets quite hot in August), then come at 8 a.m. We can have several shifts of workers. The more workers, the quicker the job is done. Also, those driving by seeing us cleaning up their trash will be impressed with how many "Tyler Area Gays--and supporters" there are.

Further instructions will follow as to where to meet so that we can carpool and not be parking on the side of a busy highway. Orange vests are provided, trash bags are provided, water will be provided, gloves will be provided, and safety instructions will be given. You are the key to the success of this program.

Please respond to let me know you plan to participate.

Adopt-A-Highway Update
As previously announced, Project TAG and East Texas PFLAG have been approved for a stretch on Highway 69 under the Adopt-A-Highway program. The first scheduled cleanup is scheduled for August 15th at 7am, with second shift meeting at 8am if that is too early for you. Our site is located 3.3 miles south of the light at Target on South Broadway. The location is wonderful and convenient. It is just south of the highway entrance to First Babtist Church's South Campus - which provides us with an excellent place to park.

We will meet in that parking lot at 7am. The parking lot can be reached by turning at the fairly large sign on the west side of the highway. The sign has a large rock base and is well lighted, and then drive a little through a wooded area. All materials will be provided needed to help in the cleanup and we will carpool to the location since we are not allowed to park on the highway. A short safety class will be held before we head out (as required by TxDot).

If you haven't driven in the area recently, you may want to make a trial run just to see the Tyler Area Gays sign. It looks great and easy to read.

The success of this program depends on you -- OUR VOLUNTEERS !!! Thank you in advance for your time.

Adopt A Highway Cleanup
(Gay) Community Service Project
Saturday August 15
Highway 69 South starting at FM 346

After much effort, Project TAG has received a designated Adopt-A-Highway 2 mile stretch on Highway 69 starting at FM 346. A sign has been erected stating Tyler Area Gays will be cleaning that area.

In exchange for this recognition, we have agreed to clean trash four times a year on both sides of the highway. This is not an easy job, but we have taken it on to show our community that not only do we exist, but will show us as a civic-oriented organization as well. East Texas PFLAG Chapter members will be joining us to show their support.

We Need Your Help ! Would you be willing to help in this clean-up?

We plan to gather at 7am on August 15th. If this is too early (and remember how fast it gets hot in August), you can arrive for a second shift at 8am. The more workers, the faster the job will be completed.

Further instructions will be given soon as to where to meet and we will carpool to the site. Orange vests, trash bags, water, and gloves will be provided. We are required to have a short safety session before we begin.

You are the key to the success this program. If you have ever wanted to support Project TAG and the community, please plan to volunteer.

Respond to this posting if you plan to participate. The Board of Directors from Project TAG and East Texas PFLAG Thank You !!!cody29
